My dog leaks urine when resting, doesn't notice. Is it incontinence?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 4 years and 7 months old | 51 lbs

Last night she began to leak from her bladder when resting, leaving puddles. She does not appear to notice when it is happening. There have been no other signs or symptoms. We diapered her this morning and the leaking has appeared to slow but it has not stopped.

I see you posted a priority question about this. I answered it, but I will post my answer below for you: Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Honey bee. Poor girl. This leaking could be a sign a medical illness like a UTI or bladder stones. Spay incontinence is another possibility, but she is a bit young for it. It usually happens in older dogs. I would take her into the vet tomorrow. The vet can diagnose what is causing this problem, and can treat it. I hope this helps!
