How to trim my biting Indian Ringneck's nails without her panicking?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | 3 years and 4 months old

My Indian Ringnecks nails have gotten a bit long to the point they are catching on things and she’s biting them. She does not like people touching her and she bites anyone who try’s to. Is there any way I can handle her in a way that she won’t freak out?

Hello, The best way to accustom a bird to handling is with slow, steady movements, patience, and lots of positive reinforcement over times. As her nails are very long now, I'd recommend taking her to a veterinarian for her nails to be trimmed, which may require sedation. I hope this is helpful.
