My kitten has a lump after her vaccine. Is this a normal reaction?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 months and 29 days old | 5 lbs

My six month kitten got a FVRCP booster today, and I just noticed a small, slightly irregular, dime sized lump in her right shoulder where she was injected. I’ve read that this may be a side effect of vaccination- should I be worried about this, or is this something that should go away over a couple days or weeks? Thanks!

If she is acting otherwise normally I would not be alarmed. This is a local reaction that should resolve on it's own in a few weeks. If it does not resolve, or she starts to act ill, then she will need to see a vet.
