I already answered this question. You need to use an oral antacid medication. There is nothing else you can give to stop stomach acid. If you don't want to use the medication then feed the dog smaller, more frequent meals so his stomach does not stay empty for too long.

Thank you for your post! This may be a diet sensitivity problem. How many foods have you tried and how long have you done a food trial for? There are prescription low fat diets such as Hills I/D and Royal Canin GI low fat that can help with sensitive stomachs. You can give pepcid AC but since I do not have a weight, I would contact your veterinarian who has Trudy's recent weight to give you a dose. If you switch to a new food, I would try a novel protein such as salmon or venison and give this 4-5 weeks to see if there is any change with the reflux. If reflux has not been diagnosed by your veterinarian, this may not be the problem either. If Trudy has not been to a veterinarian for this problem I would suggest setting up an appointment to have a vet check her out. Please feel free to contact me with further questions / concerns. I am also available for consultation.

Some pets just have acid reflux due to genetics, just like people. Often-times this can be helped by feeding the pet an easily digestible diet or even just giving a higher quality dog food. Pedigree is lower on the list of quality dog foods, so you should probably start making some adjustments here first. I would suggest one of the following foods: Purina Gastrointestinal EN, Royal Canin hydrolyzed protein, Hill's Science Diet Selected protein, Victor. If this does not do the trick, then talk to your vet about doing a short course of antacids to help control the excessive acid production. Best of luck moving forward with your pet Coco. Take care!
