Dog cyst drained, now sore & bumpy. Can I use Neosporin or GenOne?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 8 years old

Phoebe had a cyst drained the other day. The vet said that more stuff came out of it than they expected. They gave me GenOne Spray to spray on it. This is what it looks like now. Whenever I go to spray the area, she flinches as if it is sore. There is a bump there too. Is this normal or should I take her back to the vet? Is there anything I can put on it like Neosporin or anything? There's a picture attached.

It does look like a pretty invasive cyst. Instead of spraying the GenOne spray on it directly, soak a cotton ball with the solution and wipe it on. I would not use Neosporin - it is very sticky and will just collect hair, dirt, etc on it. The GenOne has an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory in it and it dries quickly so it is better to use in this situation. If this is a cyst it will never go completely away. A cyst, be definition, has a lining that produces the material that comes out of it. If you don't surgically remove the entire cyst with the lining it will continue to produce that material.
