Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | 4 years and 9 months old | 23 lbs

Sorry to interrupt you. First of all this is not about my dogs health. All of my 4 dogs are good thanks. But Im just curious since I will go to college next year. What undergraduate should I take to become a vet? And how long does it takes? Thank you :) This is my dream tho.

Hello, I'd recommend an undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry, or animal science. However, you can complete any degree as long as you have the core pre-requisites for the schools you want to apply to. It takes 3 years to complete enough courses to apply to veterinary school. Vet school takes 4 years. I'd recommend reading more about the profession and scheduling some volunteer time with your local animal shelters and veterinarians. It can be a harsh career field. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
