Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 1 year and 4 months old | 75 lbs

15 month old female German Shepherd running with other dogs at dog park comes up visibly limping nursing rear paw. There’s a thin dime size piece of her paw pad flapping no blood. She continues to walk/run gingerly on it today. Flap portion is gone

You may try washing the paw once a day for the next 3 days. You must prevent Charliegh from licking the foot (she needs to wear and elizabethan collar at all times). Keep the foot clean and dry. No walks, running or jumping until it is completely healed . If she is not significantly improved in 3 days, or if she gets worse at any point, have her examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
