Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltipoo | Female | unspayed | 9 months and 7 days old | 5 lbs

I just noticed bailey has something that appears to be a rash by her pelvis area, she does not look in pain but tends to lick it often, should i be worried? What can I do to help her?

It appears to be a superficial skin infection. Could be from shaving too close (clippers)?? The first think you have to do is stop her from licking that area. You will have to get a cone collar for her to wear until it is healed. Be sure to get a size that is long enough to go past the end of her nose or she will still be able to lick. ( https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/calm-paws-dog-caring-collar ) Then you can apply this wound spray gel to the affected area 3-4 times per day. ( https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/vetericyn-plus-wound-and-skin-care-for-dogs ) After a week of doing this it does not look better then she should see a vet. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
