Why is my cat's ear wound still swollen after home remedies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Egyptian Mau | Male | unneutered

My cat was smelling, then I noticed a wound below the right ear with pus coming out. It is a red wet wound. We gave him Almox-250 (Amoxicillin) for 5-6 days. And applied Hydrogen Peroxide, then, coconut oil with turmeric, both using a 2ml syringe (without the needle). Now the wound has become small, but there is a swelling above the wound.

Hello. There may be a pocket of infection that just did not clear with the amoxicillin. You either need to change to another antibiotic ( like amoxicillin/clauvalanic acid known as Clavamox here ) or you need to go longer on the Amoxicillin. Speak to your veterinarian as to the best thing to do for Kaaryaa. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
