Yorkie mix yelps in pain, not eating after bite. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 3 months old | 15 lbs

I have a 15 pound Yorkie mix that we believe may have been bitten the other night by either a snake or something. She yelps when we put pressure on her back side tail area. She seems a little depressed I'm guessing because she hurts. She did start wagging her tail yesterday. She isn't eating or drinking much. I did give her one wet food and grilled chicken last night which she did eat. Should I take her to a vet or just monitor her? I did give her a low dose aspirin for pain.

I recommend bringing Lexi to the veterinarian to be evaluated. Lexi may have hurt herself but a veterinarian should perform a physical examination. I would not give aspirin as this can cause issues with Lexi and inhibit what the veterinarian can do. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
