My dog was in the yard with mushrooms. Should I be worried she ate one?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 years and 8 months old | 56 lbs

Hello, my dog was in the yard and I couldn’t see her for a couple mins. When I went to check where she was, I noticed mushrooms. She had a tiny piece of something yellow hanging from her mouth but none of the mushrooms are yellow. None of the mushrooms looked chewed on or eaten, but I’m still nervous. What should I do? Attached are pics of the mushrooms.

Hello. I am sorry that your concerns were not addressed earlier, but this is a good time to re-evaluate Delilah. If it has been several hours since her possible encounter with the mushrooms, & she is fine - no drooling, gagging, vomiting, lethargy or diarrhea - then I would not be too worried about her getting sick. Just get out there & remove all the mushrooms so you do not have to worry any more. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
