Why is my dog thin with a big belly, diarrhea, and pee accidents?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cane Corso | Male | neutered | 150 lbs

Cane corso with enlarged and extended belly and boney body frame. Thse symptoms have progressed over time. Last 3 days he has diarrhea and today he urinated on his bed. Not normal for him. He is 4 yrs old and his name is Gino. He is not friendly with outsiders and has a mean temperament. Any ideas on what is wrong with him.

Poor Gino! From what I can see, he looks extremely thin - this is very concerning, and I would be worried that this is probably a life-threatening problem. There are many things that can cause weight loss with a distended abdomen along with diarrhea and urinary accidents, so I'm afraid it's not possible to say what might be wrong without being able to examine him in person and run some tests. Some possibilities would include congestive heart failure, chronic liver or kidney disease, or some type of cancer. He looks extremely sick, so I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian to be seen as soon as possible. Your vet can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and see what can be done to help him.
