My dog coughed after cone hit ground. She hacks when excited. Vet?

Harley has been wearing a cone due to an ear injury. This morning she jumped off the bed and we think the cone hit the ground and choked her. She hacked up some mucus and make coughing noises for a few minutes. She is breathing silently now, but when she gets excited she starts hacking again. Do we just let it heal or should we take her to the vet? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 1 year and 4 months old | 40 lbs
