My dog's paws are red and cracked. Is it allergies or something else?

I’ve purchased a blind pit bull /lab a couple months ago and his paws werent in the best condition. They were red but not as bad at now . I haven’t been able to get his shot records from them so I can’t take him into the petco to get his nails clipped . I was wondering if his paws have cracked or it’s just because of his nails . I was wondering what I should do . He doesn’t cry or lick them. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years old | 70 lbs

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Ray. Poor boy. They are a bit red, and it may be he has allergies or an infection causing the redness. I would have this checked out by a vet, and while there, you can get him vaccines. It doesn't look like he need his nails cut at the moment. I hope this helps!
