My dog died after new puppy. Could it be sadness or illness?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hello, I had a 6 years old aus shephard. We bought a new puppy. First, he was very excited but later he ignored him. We spend a lot of time with both of them together. He seemed sad and did not want to eat - no dry food as usual just some meat, he drank a lot. I thought he is jealous so he did not want to eat. 12 days later he did not wake up. Do you think he could die because he was sad that we brought another dog? or he had some other illness? , poison, etc..? I know it is hard to say :(

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. I doubt this was from bringing in the new dog. There are a lot of other things that could have happened and it is most likely coincidence that it happened shortly after you brought in the new puppy. I wish I had a definitive answer for you, but without an autopsy there is no way to know for sure. Please know you are in my thoughts.
