My senior dog has an irritating black bump on her eye. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 11 years and 2 months old | 130 lbs

Hello, I had a quick question regarding my dog. I notice that she had a black bump in the corner of her eye which I think is a wart. My dog is a Senior dog which I was reading that older dogs tend to get bumps. I do think that it is irritating her eye cause sometimes her eye is watery and I do see her itch it her with her front paw. I just wanted to ask you what do you recommend and what should I do? Thanks!!

Hello, thanks for reaching out! Dogs tend to get these bumps on their eyelids and they can cause irritation. In some cases, they aren't an issue, but in others, they can cause serious damage to the eye. Since your dog does seem bothered by it and is already rubbing at it, I would have it checked by a vet. In most cases, they are easily removed. Good luck and feel free to consult with me privately if you have any follow up questions or concerns!
