Why is my labradoodle's neutered scrotum white and he's licking it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labradoodle | Male | 7 months and 27 days old | 45 lbs

My 7 month labradoodle was neutered 3 days ago. He is acting fine and happy but his scrotum is now very white and i'm not sure if it is healing (new skin cells) or infected. He is licking it lots and the person who neutered him didn't use stitches. Wondering what to do or if this is normal?

Without an image or exam, it is difficult to determine if the site is infected. He should not be allowed to lick the site. Place an e-collar (cone) on him and have him physically examined by your veterinarian. Not using any sutures for closure may result in an open wound which is at high risk for complications such as infection and bleeding.
