Why is my old dog skinny but eating, limping, and has diarrhea?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed

My dog has recently gotten super skinny but IS eating her food. Her back left leg has also recently started limping so where she will not jump on the bed (where she normally sleeps, and the bed isn't high) and today I noticed that she has diarrhea. She is about 13ish. What could the possible mean ?

Poor girl. It sounds like Sprite has several issues going on here. Limping can be caused by trauma, a bone or joint abnormality or even arthritis. Pets that lose weight and have loose stool can have an underlying health problem such as intestinal parasites, an endocrine disorder or even diabetes. I would highly recommend getting some testing done to determine the underlying cause since so many different disease could be at play here. It will shed some much needed light on the situation so that we know how best to treat Sprite moving forward. Best of luck with Sprite moving forward. I hope that she regains her normal weight soon! Take care.
