My puppy is sick after her last vaccine. Is clear fluid an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 5 months old | 16 lbs

My puppy got her last puppy shot yesterday and was a tiny bit sick this morning. It was clear fluid and she seems fine. Don’t want to call my bet’s emergency number if it’s not an emergency.

Hello, It would be helpful to know what you mean by "sick"- as in possibly coughing, sneezing, vomiting, or diarrhea. I would say, in general, a small amount of fluid loss is likely not an emergency unless it is associated with a change in behavior, like lethargy, or lack of appetite. Signs of a severe allergic reaction to a vaccine that is an emergency are hives and facial swelling or explosive vomiting and diarrhea. I hope this helps.
