My dog coughs deeply or sneezes when drinking water. Is this normal?

Jaxson has always coughed or sneezed whenever he drinks water and it sounds like a really deep cough? Should I be worried or is it common? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 44 lbs

Unfortunately this is not common and the majority of dogs will drink with no problem. I imagine that when he drinks a little water is going down the wrong way. This is possibly due to an issue at the back of the throat effecting his swallow mechanism. Don't panic about it as I'm sure he is doing well otherwise, but I think it would definitely be wise to have your vet investigate this. They will likely need to sedate him and do imaging.
