My dog was sprayed by a cat. Is another bath safe for his coat?

Jasper was sprayed by a cat. We bathed him, but worry that the smell will still linger. If that's the case, is it safe to give him another bath? He had a bath a few weeks ago bc he got full of mud. Will this damage his coat?

If you do notice the smell lingering, it's fine to bathe Jasper again, but I would wait at least 24 hours before the next bath so you don't dry out his skin. This shouldn't damage his coat, it's more of a concern if you are bathing him all the time. I hope this helps!

By the smell, it seems Jasper has been sprayed by a cat in heat. It wasn't one of our cats since they're both done, but there's a cat that walks around our neighbourhood so we suspect it was him. We have Jasper a bath, can it harm him in any way?

My mom used human conditioner on my car and I am worried it is going to make him sick
Without knowing the exact ingredients of the conditioner, I can't say for sure it won't make him sick but typically Jasper would have to ingest it to cause toxic problems. As long as your mom washed it all out, he should be fine but it may dry out his skin and you could see some flakes and dandruff. If you do, you can give him a bath with vitamin E oil to try to add moisture to his skin. I would not use the conditioner again on him. If you are very concerned about the ingredients of the conditioner, I recommend calling the Pet Poison Hotline at 855-764-7661. It's a $49 charge but they have veterinary toxicologists available 24/7, and they can let you know if there are any ingredients in the conditioner that could be toxic to Jasper. I hope this helps!

Hello, you should not bathe Batman for two weeks until his incision has healed. You would use a skin sensitive baby wipe to clean him off as long as you don't clean around his scrotum. Hope this helps and best of luck.

my cat knocked over natures miracle enzymatic urine cleaner and got it all over him, we washed as much as we could off of him but his tail still smells like it will it make him sick.
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! if you bathed him well then he should be fine. You can consider bathing him multiple times in Dawn dish soap. The fragrance shouldn't harm him. Try to see if you can just re-bathe the tail area in Dawn to be sure it is gone. Good luck!

It takes 24 hours for it to fully absorb, which is why you aren't allowed to wash your cat until 24 hours have passed after application. You likely got the majority of it. You can wait until the morning, then go out and get cat shampoo to get the stink out. Princess should be fine.

My female cat got sprayed by a male cat, I think, it could be kerosene can't really tell. Bad smell. I bathed her but still has some smell. What do I fo. She's cleaning herself and I'm worried
If Georgina still smells, and there is a chance it could be kerosene, do not allow her to continue to bathe herself. Kerosene is toxic if ingested, and it can be toxic as well on her skin. I would bathe her again with a baby shampoo or Dawn dish soap to try to get rid of the smell, and if that doesn't work, I would take her into a vet because of the concern it could be kerosene on her skin. Another thing to consider is that she may have been sprayed by a skunk. I obviously can't smell her to say if that's correct or not, but that would also be a hard smell to get rid of and would smell terrible on a cat. You can get a shampoo to get rid of skunk smell from the pet store.

My cat was neutered yesterday. While in his cage he peed all over himself, it says not to bathe him due to infection but can I under the circumstances
This is normal, usually toms will pee when waking up from anesthesia after neutering. Unfortunately bathing can facilitate bacteria to enter the would and cause an infection. I suppose you can only go out and buy a can of febreze and spray the room where he spends his time. Good question., you did the right thing. Percy will be fine as long as you dried him off and he didn't get chilled. If he's eating normally and moving around he will be fine. I like to clean them up to get rid of the dirt and odor so they are more comfortable and the skin doesn't develop problems from being so dirty and smelly. We got our puppy chipped on Sunday afternoon. They said wait 3 days to bathe him. Does that mean we can give him a bath tonight or should we wait until tomorrow. He's 3 months old and never had a bath and he stinks like sweaty puppy
The reason for waiting for a few days is to make sure the small hole from the chip injection is sealed over. This usually happens very quickly, so you should be fine to give Jac a bath tonight. If you find a scab at the back of his neck where the chip was injected, do not pull the scab off. It will fall off on its own once it is completely healed. Good luck! Hi! Jasper had a dry bath today at the Vet Clinic and after he came home he vomited a couple of times, his doctor told me that it's probably because he groomed himself and the dry bath product went in his mouth. I withheld food and water for two hou
I would recommend allowing Jasper to eat right away. If he's feeling nauseous he will leave the food alone. If he is continuing to vomit and unable to eat by 24 hours after this all started, I would strongly recommend taking him back to the veterinarian for evaluation. Cats can get very ill with something called hepatic lipidosis from not eating for a prolonged time. I would also worried about toxicity from the shampoo if Jasper ate a lot of it. At the very least after 24 hours he will need some fluid underneath his skin to help rehydrate him and probably some anti-nausea medication. At home provide him lots of opportunities to drink water and eat, and limit his stress. He may want to just hang out by himself or sleep. Reasons to seek help before 24 hours include extreme lethargy, uncontrollable vomiting, and looking pale. Good luck, I hope Jasper feels better soon!
