My dog was sprayed by a cat in heat. Is it harmful or dangerous?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | neutered | 2 months and 30 days old

By the smell, it seems Jasper has been sprayed by a cat in heat. It wasn't one of our cats since they're both done, but there's a cat that walks around our neighbourhood so we suspect it was him. We have Jasper a bath, can it harm him in any way?

No it won’t harm him but it does have a strong odor that may be hard to get rid of even with a bath. If he still smells repeat the bath again in another day or two. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Jasper.
