My French Bulldog has white nose mucus, acts normal. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Male | neutered | 5 months and 20 days old | 25 lbs

My French Bulldog recently this morning just started having white mucus come out of his nose. He is acting normal. Is this something I should be alarmed about? Should we see a vet immediately?

Hello. If Dodger is eating/drinking & feeling well, then this is not an emergency, but the discharge is thick enough that I would want to have it checked out. It may just be a mild upper respiratory infection, but a foreign body, like a piece of grass, is also a possibility. In such a young dog, it is most likely a mild infection, but if it continues or worsens, please have him seen by your vet next week. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
