My dog drank diluted bleach. Is he okay? What symptoms to watch for?

Harley drank about 2 licks of diluted domestos! Is he going to be okay?? He’s very tired and laying down everywhere but that might be because we were playing outside for 2 hours.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Domestos contains bleach. If it is not ultra concentrated and it was very dilute then the outcome is better. Usually symptoms start with in mins: drooling, red lips, irritation around the mouth, pawing around the mouth and vomiting if a lot is consumed. Bleach is corrosive causing irritation of the gums, esophagus and stomach. If the bleach you use is ultra concentrated then Harley should see a vet immediately. Otherwise if Harley got the bleach on his fur, bathe him in lots of water and mild soap. Rinse his mouth out with lots of water and encourage him to drink water. You can add chicken broth, tuna juice and even try some milk to encourage drinking. If he starts to show symptoms despite the above he should see a Vet. I hope this helps and I wish you the best!
