The only studies i am aware of have been in the largerbreed dogs such as retrievers, rottis and viszlas, selected due to increased incidence. The study numbers are quite small and this can create statistical bias in itself. It is not thought these results are directly comparable between breeds which do not show similar levels of the diseases in question but much more research is required before all factors are understood.
