My dog has a red blister on his privates. Can it wait for boosters?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 4 months and 12 days old | 25 lbs

My dog has redness and inflammation right on the end of his prepuce (what looks like a blister). He excessively licks it, he has shown a decrease in appetite and has been slightly lethargic. I have an appointment for him to get boosters in a couple days, does this sound like something that can wait until then?

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Based on the picture you provided, I suspect this may be a blister or pustule due to a skin infection. Waiting until your vaccine booster appointment should be absolutely fine and the veterinarian can address it at this time.
