My dog has an itchy skin lump that won't go away. How can I help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | unspayed | 4 years and 10 months old | 4 lbs

Can anyone please help me and tell me what this could be? It's been here for a long time and it doesn't go away, parents believe that it's nothing to worry about. It's itching her horribly & she has few of them on her abdominal area but this one is right her shoulder. Can you recommend anything to help her? What should I do?

This looks like a little skin wart which are usually nothing to worry about. It doesn't look red or infected at the moment. It could be that she has an underlying skin allergy that is causing the itching. If you are worried you should take her to the vet for an examination. Alternatively you could try giving her a daily antihistamine to see if that settles the itch.
