Pet's info: Dog | English Springer Spaniel | Female | spayed | 6 months and 12 days old | 32 lbs
Hello there! My dog Harlow is currently 6 months old. When she was a smaller puppy she absolutely loved being around other people and other dogs. Now, if we meet new people she runs from them or hides in between my legs. She also barks at other dogs and has her hair standing up on the back of her neck every time. She’s not aggressive but seems really scared. Is this normal behavior for a puppy? What could’ve turned her anxious towards humans and other dogs?

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your question. Something may have scared Harlow. It may have been a voice of someone, how tall someone was, etc. that scared her. I would recommend socialization classes with a dog trainer and see if this helps. A lot of times, puppies will grow out of this fear as they become more socialized at dog parks and in training classes. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
