Is water enough to clean shoes after stepping in Rid-x granules?

Will hose water without soap work for washing the bottoms of my shoes off? Or does it have to be soap and water, to get them clean after stepping in the Rid-x granuels that was busted open at the store? I used regular water without soap already but was wondering if I HAVE to use soap and water? Also I don't have anything to scrub them with...

Yes, the hose water should be fine but if you want to clean them again, use the hose water and soap. You can get a brush from the grocery store to scrub the bottom of your shoes to be safe. As long as you have thoroughly cleaned your shoes, it should be fine.

Given that you have already washed them, it should be fine. Leaving them on the stairs to dry is fine as well since Mirz doesn't have access to the stairs. In addition, since you carried the shoes inside after you washed them, there isn't a worry about anything getting spread in the house. Just put them back on outside the next time you wear them. As long as you have cleaned your shoes, it will be fine to wear them in the house and Mirz will be fine. I do think you are worrying a little too much about this as I know you have posted multiple times about this topic, but if you really want to be safe, just vacuum and clean your car before driving it again. I hope this finally sets your mind at ease :-)

I don't think you need to worry about this at all. The cat has to actually ingest the plant itself for it to be toxic. You just stepping on the plant should not transfer anything toxic. It is up to you though how you want to handle this. If you want to be safe then yes, rinsing your shoes off thoroughly with a hose and leaving them out of reach of the cats is a good idea.

Hello, and thank you for using Boop by Petco. This is a great question, and it's good that you're thinking about how to keep your animals safe. The difficulty comes from the fact that dirt and gravel are, by nature, nearly impossible to truly disinfect. We can talk about disinfecting hard (non-porous) surfaces with bleach, which is really the only disinfectant that is effective against parvovirus....but nothing will truly disinfect dirt and gravel, because you can't saturate and soak all sides of every piece of dirt & rock with the bleach solution, and parvovirus can remain in the environment for months to even years. So, with a big grain of salt to consider that it still won't be truly disinfected, but to do your diligence to try to sanitize the area as best as possible, I recommend thoroughly spraying the area with copious amounts of water first (the goal here is to dilute and wash away any remaining microscopic fecal matter). Let it dry, then I'd spray the top layer of dirt & g

As long as you thoroughly rinse the rugs after they are washed, there shouldn't be a problem with any residue from the cleaner. If you can find a soap/shampoo called Orvus in your area, or order it online, that should be a safe, effective cleaner. I have used it myself to bathe horses, so it shouldn't be a problem using it to clean rugs for your cats to lie on.

How naughty of Nicco! No, it will certainly not harm him to either rinse in warm water or even give a full-blown bath with a gentle oatmeal pet shampoo or baby shampoo. We try to avoid frequent bathing on a routine basis since it can dry out the skin by decreasing some of the oils in the hair coat, however, sometimes situations arise where it is unavoidable!

Washing in a bucket (or bowl) with mild soap should be just fine. The small amount in a baby wipe would be unlikely to cause any problems, but probably a good idea to wash the feet. Hope this helps and thank you for using Pet Coach.

Hi, I used Lysol disinfectant spray to clean my cat's litter box then rinsed it off with a mild fish soap. Is this okay do me to do? I also use this spray to clean surfaces throughout house by make sure to keep my cat away when I'm cleaning.
Yes, it is absolutely fine to continue using your normal household cleaners - Lysol included - as long as Frankie does not directly inhale or ingest any of these substances. Rinsing his litter box with dish soap after spraying with Lysol is also okay. :-)

Thank you for reaching out about Mirz. I do not think you have any reason to be very concerned about the slippers and a possible chemical on them. It sounds like you have taken the appropriate precautions and it should be just fine. Symptoms of cleaner ingestion may include: excessive drooling, vomiting, and/or a decrease in appetite. If any of this occurs for Mirz, please seek veterinary care. But once again, I do not think you have much to be concerned about after all you have done.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! That is actually an excellent and very smart question and brings up a good point. Dogs can bring soil, bacteria and parasites from the outside so cleaning his paws at least would be a great idea to prevent any harm to the baby. Have a good night!
