When can my puppy get vaccinated after Parvo if she tests positive?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 6 months and 11 days old

6 months old puppy recovered Parvo 3-4 months ago. Parvo antigen is still positive on the blood test. Vet says we have to wait until it comes negative so that she can have her mixed vaccines because if she gets her vaccines she may get ill again. I still can't take her outside because nearby streets are full of unvaccinated street dogs. Another vet told me that it may not ever come negative, there is little risk and she has to get vaccinated ASAP. What should we do? Thanks.

Your dog can be vaccinated now. There is very little risk that Shiva will contract parvo from the vaccination, especially not if she had natural parvovirus infection already and recovered. Please have her vaccinated ASAP.
