My senior hamster has a cloudy eye. Is it cataracts? What to do?

My Syrian hamster, Romeo is now 2 and a half years old. I've never had any health problems with him. But the other week I noticed what looks to be cataracts in his right eye. It gets bigger everyday. He's still up and moving around a lot for his age but I want to make him the most comfortable he can be. Is there anything I can do to help with his eye and just make him overall comfy?

Cataracts themselves are not painful. However, there can be any changes to the eye that can look like a cataract that may actually be something else. I would encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon. If it is just a cataract then being aware of Vision loss is important to protect from dangers down the road such as falls and such. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
