My dog ate a pee pad, pooped plastic and blood. Is he going to be okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 months and 11 days old | 13 lbs

He ate a piece of pee pad yesterday. Yesterday he pooped out most of the plastic and it came out with little specks of blood, not very noticeable. He has been eating and playing normally after that. Today he pooped and didn’t see no more plastic or blood. Is he going to be okay? I can’t afford vet visit right now and have been monitoring him a lot and he seems fine.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Since Luke pooped out most of the pee pad he will likely be fine, especially since he is eating, playing and seems fine. The blood just means there was some inflammation in the colon from the pad. I would just continue to watch him! Have a great day!
