My unspayed Scottish Fold cat: What to do about breeding and heat?

i want to buy a scottish fold cat an d i wont let her go oitside and i dont want her spayed what should i do about her breeding

Scottish fold cats are very cute! I personally highly recommend spaying female cats because they are extremely annoying when they are in heat, very vocal all the time, trying to get outside to find males to mate with, and quite affectionate. Many owners report being very put out by having a female cat in heat. In addition, not spaying her can lead to serious health problems such as a pyometra (a severe and sometimes fatal infection of the uterus) and mammary tumors (90% of which in cats are malignant). But if you choose not to spay her, you will just have to deal with her heat cycles and the accompanying behavior. You don't have to breed her if you don't want to, but you can talk to the breeder from whom you get your cat and ask if they know any studs you can breed her with when she is old enough. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! It is ultimately your decision whether you want to spay Noushmc or not. Most people find they do not like the behavior their cats display when in heat. Sometimes the cats will urine mark when intact and it leaves the uterus at risk for an infection (pyometra) when she is older. There are cats who have no problems. I hope this helps!

Cats will tend to have a recurring heat cycle until they are bred, so if she isn't yet pregnant, she is likely to continue to have interest in the male, and the male in her. If you do not wish to have kittens, getting both your female spayed and your male neutered can prevent this, as well as reduce/stop the heat-related behaviors.

Cat in heat are very vocal and clingy! Most people get annoyed by the attention they want with a cycle. If not spayed it does open the possibility of an uterine infection with each cycle which will require an emergency surgery.

The estrous cycle in cats has 4 stages: proestrus, estrus, interestrus, and anestrus. It is only in the second stage that the female is receptive to the male. This stage, estrus, typically lasts 4-6 days (up to 10). If your female is still in the first stage (proestrus) or has already passed out of the second stage of the cycle into the third stage (interestrus) she will not r be receptive to the male. If mating is attempted to early or late in the cycle, the queen will refuse to mate and often aggressively reject the male. A queen should be at least 12 to 18 months of age before a mating is attempted. At this age, she is physically and emotionally mature enough to successfully rear kittens. Breeding your cat is not a decision to make lightly. Spaying prevents unwanted pregnancies and eliminates the problems of cystic ovaries, false pregnancies, uterine infection, and irregular heat cycles. Your female cat will only mate with your male when she is in heat. I suspect that the reason why she isn't mating with him is because she is not currently in heat. Female cats typically go into heat anywhere from six months of age, but for some cats, it can be closer to a year old. Even if you mate your male cat eventually, it's not going to stop the behavior he's showing for long because he will want to keep mating. The best thing to do is have him neutered to stop this behavior. You can make an appointment with your vet to have this done. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Cats are polyestrus, meaning they go into heat multiple times a year. It's best to breed cats when they are at least one year of age. At this age, they will be physically and emotionally mature, and thus better able to properly take care of kittens. Cats have a very distinct behavior when they are ready to be bred. You will see Gg roll around on the ground and act more playful than usual. She will be more vocal, and will try to get outside more often to find males with which to mate. She will also stand arched with her tail straight up, and her back and rear legs stiffen when touched. When you see this behavior, she will be receptive to mating with a male. Heat periods in cats typically last 4-7 days, and will become longer and more frequent if she isn't bred. Cats become more sexually active during certain seasons, early spring and late autumn in the US. When Gg goes into heat, you can introduce her to a male cat.

Hi! Cat heat cycles can last from 1-3 weeks, so she may not be done yet. You can try stimulating ovulation by rubbing her vagina with a q-tip, but if this is done, she will likely come back into heat in a few weeks. If ovulation is not stimulated, she may wait 4-6 months before coming back into heat. There is no safe or effect cat birth control options like there are for human females. Spaying her is the only guarantee that she will no longer go into heat or get pregnant. I strongly urge you to consider getting her spayed for both her health and to prevent further pet overpopulation. As cats get older, their chances of getting a life-threatening infection in their uterus increases every year (called pyometra). Spaying Fifi is 100% effective at preventing pyometra, and I promise that she will be much healthier being spayed now than requiring emergency spay surgery with an infected uterus many years in the future.

No, this is not true. The female cat will always keep asking for a mate, and a cat in heat has very annoying behaviors. I recommend spaying Cutie now before she goes into heat if you don't plan on mating her.

This is normal behavior for a female cat in heat - Zinnie isn't in pain, just highly motivated to mate :) Having her mated will temporarily fix the problem if she gets pregnant, but then you'll have to deal with all the possible medical issues of pregnancy and delivering kittens, and she will go into heat again almost immediately after giving birth. Persians and other flat-faced breeds are more prone to problems with having their kittens when they go into labor, so you should be prepared for the fact that she may need an emergency c-section when it's time to give birth. If you don't want her to have kittens, a better option would be to have her spayed - this will keep her from ever going into heat again, and will also ensure that she can't become pregnant. If you do want to have one or more litters of kittens from her, I would recommend having her spayed as soon as you are finished breeding her for good - otherwise, she will continue to constantly go into heat and have the same i

Unfortunately you cannot do anything. Cycling heats are normal, and so are the behaviors she is showing. If you want to breed her, then you just have to wait out through this time period until she is old enough to have a litter. There are no medications you can give her, I'm sorry.
