My mother’s very aggressive angry cat has cornered me into a closet and won’t stop hissing and growling . How do I calm her down or at least leave the house . I am only cat-sitting

It is a feisty kitty indeed. The best thing is to carry a large towel and if you have to walk past her, courageously do so and if she attacks, throw the towel on her. This should give you enough time to get out of her way. Eventually she may not go after you. But hissing and growling is not dangerous as long as she does not actually attack you. Hissing and growling does work well as intimidation strategy apparently. Be courageous and she probably will move away from you. Talk to her when you feed her, do not try to touch her, She is apparently very upset that her mama (your mother) has left her, if only temporarily.
