How long should I use cat eye drops for conjunctivitis? Both eyes?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 years and 5 months old

So my cat was given eye drops for her conjunctivitis and I was told to put them in twice a day and he wants me to go back in a weeks time, do I treat her eye with the drops for the week or do I treat them for upto 2 days after the infection has gone? And should i be treating both eyes or just the one? I'm really confused as the vet didn't say much other than to bring her back in a week and it says on the box to use the drops twice daily.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would place the drops in whatever eye(s) is affected twice daily until your recheck. If both eyes are affected place it in both eyes. Usually there is instructions on the box of medications. If it is unclear it is best to call the Vet and have them clarify. I hope this helps!
