Is it safe for my 8-week puppy to play with a vaccinated adult dog?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Poodle | Female | spayed | 1 month and 30 days old | 36 lbs

My puppy is only 8 weeks old, she has only received her first vaccination not long ago, can she have interrection (play with) a adult family dog who is healthy, fully vaccinated and having street walks in the neighbourhood?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Yes! There is a fine line between protecting them and socialization. I think it is fine that she plays with a healthy vaccinated dog and to be walked on side walks. No dog parks or boarding until 2 weeks past her final vaccinations. Have a great day!
