Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. This could also be an abscess or indicative of an infection primarily. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and have a good day!

This is likely some type of skin infection, but will need to be looked at by your vet to determine if it is fungal or bacterial. This will require some prescription medication, likely oral antibiotics or antifungals. It is difficult to get adequate response to topical medications especially on this area because your pet will likely lick or rub off anything that is applied to the skin. Please see your vet as soon as you can get her in for an appointment.
