My dog has skin irritations. How can I help soothe his itchy skin?

My dog has recently been getting skin irritations, i was wondering if you can help by telling us what to do. Thank you!

It looks like from your pictures that Jasper could have a skin infection, and that could be caused by bacteria, yeast, allergies, or a fungal infection. The best thing you can do is take him into the vet on Monday. The vet can diagnose what is causing his skin irritation, and can give him a treatment for it. Over this weekend, if it's bothering him, you can try giving him an oatmeal bath which may be temporarily soothing to his skin. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Poor Jasper!! It could be that he has mange, or he could have a severe pyoderma (bacterial infection of the skin). He sounds very uncomfortable, so I would have him seen by a vet first thing in the morning. The vet can do a physical exam, skin scrapings, skin culture, and any other dermatological test the vet deems necessary to diagnose what is causing Jasper's skin condition. Once the cause is found, the vet can prescribe treatment. I would give him an oatmeal bath tonight, as that may help temporarily give him relief from the severe itchiness.

what helps skin irratation
I'm afraid it depends on what is causing the skin irritation - without more information, it's hard to give much specific advice. In general, bathing in aloe and oatmeal dog shampoo is a good, safe option that may provide some relief for some skin problems. Often, though, a diagnosis and prescription medication from your veterinarian may be needed in order to determine what is causing the problem and treat it effectively.

Wich medicine for this skin infection?
It's hard to say based on just a photo of the skin. Some samples (cytology) should be taken of the skin cells through your vet first. Based on what is found, we can then select the appropriate treatment for this. Whether that is an antibiotic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, or even steroid is totally dependent on the results of that skin test. In the meantime you can try giving Jack pet formulated fish oils from your local pet store to help combat any inflammation of the skin. Also a good high quality dog food (i.e. Royal Canin, hills science diet, Innova, etc) is best to promote a healthy skin and haircoat. The Duoxo shampoo's are also a good topical treatment for dry skin in dogs. Best of luck with your pet Jack and his dry skin.

Should I be concerned ?
It looks like he has a mild bacterial skin infection or reaction to something he may have come into contact with. Without an exam there's no way to know for sure, but you can give him a bath with lukewarm water and a mild oatmeal-based shampoo to soothe his skin. If it does not improve over the net few days or gets worse, get him in to see your vet for diagnosis and treatment.

I have a two year old Shiba Inu with what I think is a rash or hot spot, we put the cone on so he would stop itching/biting, we starting bathing him with a medicated oatmeal treatment shampoo and we just changed his food and our laundry detergent as
I'm sorry to hear that Jax is so uncomfortable! The redness and inflammation on his foot is pretty significant. This type of skin issue is most commonly caused by underlying allergies to fleas, food or the environment. When dogs itch and bite a lot, they damage the protective outer layers of the skin, often resulting in the onset of bacterial and/or yeast skin infections. It's possible that he may need some anti-itch medications, antibiotics or anti-fungal medications. I understand that Jax is not the most cooperative at the vet, but this is something that warrants veterinary attention. I'd recommend calling your vet to ask if they can prescribe a sedative before the appointment or consider working with a house call vet in your area. I hope that everything goes well!

My dog has a rash in his neck and he keeps scratching at it and it’s getting worse. Is there any home remedy or over the counter products I can use to help heal this rash?
Thank you for submitting your question regarding Jax. I would start by bathing him with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner such as an oatmeal or fatty acid based formula. This will help to cleanse and soothe the skin. If this does not resolve the issue, then he will need to see his veterinarian as antibiotics will likely be needed. You can also discuss why this may have happened based on his exams findings. This will help the rash from recurring in the future. I hope this information helps!

Awww what a sweet face! A number of different things could cause what you are seeing. It may be a bacterial skin infection, a fungal infection such as ringworm or an allergic cause of some kind. Ideally, she should be seen by your veterinarian. If you are not able to do so, you can try a product such as [Zymox](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/zymox-spray-with-5-hydrocortisone), for a few days. Is this fungal infection ?
Based on the picture it is difficult to tell if there is irritation on the surface of the skin or pigment changes underneath it. Skin lesions can be caused by bacterial, parasitic or fungal infection, dietary or environmental allergies or sensitivities, immune system disorders, or a combination of the above. If the area is itchy I recommend you have your pet seen by a vet to help determine the cause. The vet may want to look at a sample from the area under the microscope to determine if there is an infection and to figure out what medication is appropriate for treatment. You can use an e-collar (cone) to help prevent your pet from licking the area, as allowing them to lick could lead to infection. i hope this helps!

Hello, My self Mriganka Bain, having Saint Barnard. she was well but in the last few days, she is suffering from skin disease. She is just 3 years old. Can you please suggest me any medicine.
It looks as if your dog has a skin infection, most commonly caused by an allergy, a skin mite (Demodex) or fleas. The allergy could be a due to a protein in your dog’s food or an environmental allergy like to dust, pollens, grasses, etc. The allergy causes your dog to itch and chew at the skin which breaks down the skin barrier. This then leads to infection. Skin infections are typically characterized by large areas of hair loss, redness, crusting, flaking, and pustules. A thorough skin examination by your veterinarian should be able to determine the cause of the itch so it can be treated appropriately. Your dog will most likely need antibiotics to help clear up the infection and possibly an allergy/anti-itch medication like Apoquel, Atopica, or Cytopoint to give some relief while the infection clears up. A medicated shampoo may be beneficial as well. I would also recommend he be on a good flea control routinely too. Once the infection has resolved a long term allergy medication
