My dog is 56 days pregnant, showing labor signs. Are pups safe?

My bitch is 56 days pregnant and is showing signs of labour - vomitting and nesting. This is her second litter and she is an Irish Red Setter. Is she coming into labour? Would it be safe for the pups to come at this stage?

It could be possible that Shun is in labor, and it would be safe for the the puppies to come at this stage of her pregnancy. I would take her temperature rectally. A dog's normal temperature is between 38.3-39.2C, and once it drops below 37.7C, she should give birth to her puppies within 24 hours. If her temperature is below 37.7C, I would expect the puppies to be coming. Should 24 hours pass after this temperature drop with no signs of puppies, that is a medical emergency and she will need to see a vet immediately. Set her up in a quiet place with blankets, water, and food, and check on her frequently to see if she is doing ok. Any concerns with her, take her into a vet right away. Best of luck!

56 days is a bit early, but it is possible she could be in labor, or closer to her due date than thought. Signs of labor can include visible contractions, changes in body temperature, lack of appetite, and waxing of the nipples (producing a milk substance). I would keep an eye on her, and if she doesn't have any puppies within a few hours of signs of labor, or she seems in great distress/is extremely exhausted take her into your vet ASAP for care to make sure there isn't a stuck puppy or other illness or complication causing her early symptoms.

my dog will b 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow can she go into labor anytime after that
A dog's pregnancy lasts between 58-68 days, so it is possible she could go into labor anytime after that. I would start taking her temperature rectally twice a day. A dog's normal temperature is between 101-102.5F. Once it drops below 100F, she should give birth to her puppies within 24 hours. Should 24 hours pass after this temperature drop with no sign of puppies or she reaches 69 days of pregnancy without going into labor, she will need to see a vet immediately. When a dog's temperature drops below 100F, they should give birth to puppies within 24 hours. Keep an eye on her, and if 24 hours pass with no sign of puppies, bring her into the vet for a health check. Hopefully she should be able to push out her puppies safely. Best of luck.

I was wondering what I should expect with her labor and all possible signs she could or could not have? This is her 2nd pregnancy and totally different from her first one completely. I know from the day they tied today is day 59! Please help me figur
Congratulations are in order. It can be a little nerve racking when your pet is expecting puppies. Here are some things to keep in mind. 1) Her rectal temperature will drop below 100 degrees F when she is less than 24 hrs til delivery time, in most situations. 2) Make a nest area for her including blankets or soft bedding. Things you don’t mind getting dirty. 3) Once you see her stomach contact you should see a puppy delivered within 15-30 mins. If she seems to be taking much longer or in distress then she may need a c-section. 4) Black or green discharge is a sign of trouble! Get help immediately from your local vet or ER vet hospital. Typically dogs will give birth at 63 days, although having pups a few days early is possible. You want to watch for a temperature drop, by about 1 degree. If you have not been routinely temping her it is hard to say if this lowered temp is actually a sign of parturition. Watch her closely for nesting behaviors and contractions. My pregnant GSD temperature dropped below 100 degrees, should I be expecting for her to be having puppies?.
Congrats! Yes expect puppies within the next 24 hrs. You should see her start to nest, so provide adequate blankets/towels for her. Then you will see her panting, becoming restless and having contractions. After the contractions start puppies should be delivered within 30 mins on average. If she seems to be having complications and not producing puppies within that time frame, or if you see green or black discharge then she needs to go to an ER vet immediately. Sorry, I should have put the temperature in Celcius when I answered your last question. Once it drops below 37.7C, the dog should have puppies within 24 hours. If it's been almost 24 hours since Sasha's temperature drop, you will need to have her checked out by a vet now. I can't be more specific about when the puppies will come beyond that, it's impossible for me to say without seeing her in person. Best of luck.
