My pregnant cat has been having diarrhea for a while and her butthole has been red. Today I discovered drops of diarrhea on the floor and her butthole is red and now swollen. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Cookie! Since Cookie is pregnant it is best that she be seen by a Vet. I would recommend a bland diet like Hill's i/d and a probiotic. I try to avoid medications in pregnant animals. There are not safe human medications to give her. Cats are very sensitive and can not tolerate medications regardless of being pregnant. Bring a stool sample to the Vet with you. Causes of diarrhea are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, reaction to a diet change, ate something gross, pancreatitis, intestinal disease. I wish Cookie the very best!
