My dog has hair loss, red skin, and warm spots. What can I do?

My dog has lost hair on the mouth, inside of each leg, in front of ears, and around anus. They're warm to touch and the spots on his legs are red but the skin on his mouth seemed to darken up. His ears also are a bit red. I've taken him to the vet, but my vet says that he may 'grow out of it' to give it a few weeks and if he doesn't get any better to give him another visit. I know I'll have to get a skin scrape test soon but what could be going on and what can i do to help him? He's almost 2. Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 6 months old | 170 lbs
