My dog has hair loss, red skin, and warm spots. What can I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 6 months old | 170 lbs

My dog has lost hair on the mouth, inside of each leg, in front of ears, and around anus. They're warm to touch and the spots on his legs are red but the skin on his mouth seemed to darken up. His ears also are a bit red. I've taken him to the vet, but my vet says that he may 'grow out of it' to give it a few weeks and if he doesn't get any better to give him another visit. I know I'll have to get a skin scrape test soon but what could be going on and what can i do to help him? He's almost 2.

Siku may be fighting a bacterial or fungal skin infection leading to these symptoms. He could also have a severe allergy or skin mites. If you are unable to get to the veterinarian right away, I would recommend using the below products to start. I hope these help! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further. 1. Douxo PS Chlorhexidine combination shampoo and bathe twice weekly until resolved 2. Malacetic conditioning spray and apply twice daily until resolved 3. Douxo PS mousse and apply to affected areas once daily until resolved
