My 4-month-old cat ate D-Con poison. What are his survival chances?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 4 months old | 7 lbs

Our cat is about 3-4 months old. Strictly indoor cat. Sometime in the night he got into dcon poison that we suspect. He is currently at the vet being evaluated and possibly treated if they find this is the cause of his abnormal behavior. We are unsure how much he ingested and ahout 12 hours have passed in total. What are his chances of survival if poisoning is the case? (He is also being tested for rabies and neurological diseases) his exact weigjt is unknown but estimated 7lbs.

Oh no, poor Blizzard. You have done exactly the right thing by getting him into the vet, and the sooner he sees a vet, the better his chances of survival. I wish I could give you an exact answer, but it does vary by case.
