My guinea pig has vitamin C deficiency. How can I treat him at home?

I have a male guinea pig with vitamin c deficiency but I don't have a vet nearby who treats small animals so how am I supposed to treat him.

Hello. If you are sure your GP has a vitamin C deficiency, then you need to start Milo on a supplement. Most pet retailers will carry a number of appropriate supplements, but do start with an oral one rather than something that goes into the water. If Milo is really bad, your veterinarian can give a couple of vitamin c injections to jump start his recovery. Then, make sure you continue to give him a good, fresh source of Vitamin c for the rest of his life. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
