My dog has a painful spot on his rear paw knuckle. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rhodesian Ridgeback | Male | neutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 110 lbs

My dog's name is Saint. He is my Best-Friend and my PTSD Service Dog. He has had this thing on his left rear, inside knuckle for about a week. I thought maybe he got into something when I talk him for a long walk. He acts normal for the most part but if that area gets hit hard or anything, he lifts it up and then he is back to normal again after a few minutes. He is only 17 months old. He is a Rhodesian Ridge-Back. He is stubborn, Head strong, and HUGE. What is recommended besides a VET?

That could be a growth or from an injury. Without seeing Saint in person, I cannot diagnose what is causing this, so I cannot suggest a treatment. It's impossible to diagnose from a picture. That is way the only recommendation is to have him seen by a vet for it.
