My dog is acting odd, uncomfortable, and has a tight belly. Vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 3 years and 7 months old | 75 lbs

Hello, I came home to my German Shepherd acting odd. She is walking around looking timid or anxious with her head held down some. She will sit, but seems like laying down is uncomfortable and she gets up to walk about frequently like shes uncomfortable. She ate dinner and has been drinking water. Her belly feels somewhat tight, but I didnt check it until after she ate. Not sure if we need to take her somewhere tonight or see if symptoms have improved in the morning. Any advice will help, thanks!

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Harper. Poor girl. It sounds like she may be painful. I'd keep an eye on her tonight. Rest her. No running, jumping, or playing. Take her out to potty on a leash, and bring her right back in when she's done. Have her seen by a vet in the morning if she is still acting this way. I hope this helps!
