My cat's eye looks swollen and puffy. What could be the cause?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 1 month old

So I noticed last night that the area underneath my cats eye looked ever so slightly puffy, very subtle (my husband couldn’t see it). And this morning, it’s more visible and the outer corner of his eye looks raised and swollen. He seems fine in himself, eating food, purring etc. Just wondering how to trest this. Thanks in advance.

Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. It appears that Franco has a tooth root abscess which is causing the swelling in that location. He has the classic presentation for this problem. I suggest you take him to the vet for an exam as this is not something that can be treated at home. You can refer to this link for more information about this problem.
