Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 years and 10 months old | 50 lbs
Hi, i believe my dog may have an anal gland issue. Everything i have read on this issue suggests there is not a lot of treatments avaliable. I was wondering if this is correct, alot of the articles i read sugggest that bathing in salted water, diluted betadine and a change of diet to encourage a firmer stool and engaging the glands will help. They have improved with this treatment over the last few days, but i just wanted to check if this information is correct. Thank you

Yes you can continue doing what you are doing especially if it is helping. Typically if a dog has chronic issues with the anal glands we recommend surgical removal of the glands. ( https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951501 )
