Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 9 months old | 8 lbs
I am trying to heal a stray cat that had an open wound for aprox a year. He has a skin implant done which didnt work and after that different approaches has been taken as oral antibiotics and local cures. At the moment the wound is much bigger and seems that the skin around or close to the wound is weak . It breaks with the bandage and do not heal. Recently a biopsy has been performded and serratia bacteria was found. Antibiotics were changed about 10 days ago. What hopes are of healing?

I really cannot give you an answer on this. Did the vet have a sensitivity test performed on the bacteria to find out what the best antibiotic would be best to treat it? This is not a common bacteria we see here in the U.S. in cats. This is thought to be an opportunistic bacteria that only grows if there is a problem with the immune system. Has the cat been tested for feline leukemia or feline AIDS? I guess if he has been holding on for a year already he will probably heal up eventually with the correct treatment if he has no underlying immune deficiency.
