My vaccinated dog bit someone. Is a rabies shot still needed?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 months and 12 days old | 22 lbs

My dog is vaccinated and given proper anti rabbies treatment. She bite my sister and sister had very small cut on my her palm. Is it still important to get anti rabbies injection to my sister. Please lemme know as soon as possible.

Hello. If Bella received a proper vaccination from her veterinarian, then there is no need to worry at all about your sister getting rabies. If the vaccine was not properly administered by a licensed veterinarian, the Bella might be able to be quarantined as required by your local municipality. Here in the US, an unvaccinated dog is quarantined at a holding facility ( often a veterinary facility ) for 10 days. If no symptoms, then no need to worry.     Bella should be fine. You can monitor her for a vaccine reaction, which may include vomiting, diarrhea, facial swelling, or extremely lethargy, and take her into the vet right away should you see any of these side effects.
