Can a cat's limp tail pain cause stress and inflamed intestines?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 7 months old | 19 lbs

Came home to my cat behaving normally and then noticing that his tail was hanging straight down llike dead weight from where it connects to the body. Pain only when that area was touched. Vet took scans and spine is normal. Lower intestines are inflamed. Colon "opposite" of constipated. Vet gave buprenorphine and solumedrol. Stated he believed that the pain from "whatever" was causing tail issues caused stress which then caused his intestines to become inflammed. Does this male sense?

I have never heard of that correlation before but I suspect it is possible that if there was some inflammation of the nerves by the tail, essentially the nerves to the colon could be affected as well.
